Want the secrets on How to win Sweepstakes, contests and giveaways?
These are a fun way to try your luck for free. In most cases, you are required to fill out a form and provide your email address and a few other demographic facts.
Some also require you to subscribe to a newsletter or social media site. Not too difficult right?

I am an avid “sweeper” and enjoy the rush of a possible win. I have entered thousands, if not tens of thousands of sweepstakes and contests. I have also WON some interesting and exciting prizes! As a matter of a fact, I went to a Philadelphia Flyers hockey game tonight with tickets that I won.
How you ask? I will break it down so you can start winning too.
Where to start:
Create an email dedicated solely to sweepstakes
This is crucial as your inbox may soon have a few newsletters and other communications from the hosts of the sweepstakes you will enter and it will be much more simplified to have those all in one place.
Check your email (including the spam folder) everyday as an email is how most wins are announced.
*Be sure to check your email daily and review your spam folder.
Follow the rules and go over them with a fine tooth comb
Many that enter do not follow the rules and may be disqualified, this increases your chances for a win. Some will have very few rules and are easy to enter. Others will want you to perform certain actions such as like their Facebook page or re-tweet a post. Take the time to read over the rules and follow each one. It may seem daunting at first but once you start entering sweepstakes, you will easily know how to navigate through the rules.
Look for sweepstakes that have daily entries
You can up your odds of winning simply by entering those sweepstakes which have daily entries, meaning you can enter them everyday.
The key to winning is to increase your odds and volume is key.
One time entries are usually nice and quick but your odds of winning are very slim. It’s like winning the jackpot on a $1 scratch-off ticket. Those that are daily entries will boost your odds significantly if you are consistent.
Organize a list of your daily sweepstakes
This can be done many different ways. I personally enter daily sweeps on Facebook through groups.
You can click the three little buttons in the top right hand corner of a Facebook post and there will be an option to “save” it. You can then click on your saved items from Facebook’s home screen to view them.
Here are two groups that I check for new sweepstakes:
Sweepstakes, Contests, and Giveaway’s https://www.facebook.com/groups/322323035024801/
Sweepstakes Fanatics https://www.facebook.com/groups/2408221352527774/
PRO TIP: Short entry periods and local sweepstakes tend to have low entries and hence increase your chances of winning.
You can also do a Google search and find many web sites that are dedicated to listing almost all of the sweepstakes that are currently running.
My favorite ishttps://www.freebieshark.com
Join Communities
By joining Facebook groups you can network with other sweepers and keep up to date on all of the latest sweepstakes and possibly make some new friends.
It is also a way to see that prizes are in fact awarded to those who enter. It is always nice to see someone who you have networked with share their win!
Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube also have plenty of sweepstakes to enter. These mostly consist of tagging friends and sharing the post/video. You can build up a list of “sweeper buddies” to exchange handles through Facebook communities.
Set a limit
Entering sweepstakes is fun but it’s also very easy to get caught up in. Decide beforehand how much time you are willing to spend sweeping everyday and try to stick to that schedule as closely as you can. Some days may allow more time then others. Balance is good for all things in life.
Persistence, Patience, and Positive thinking
This one may just be the most important. It takes time to build up entries and sometimes there can only be one winner. If you don’t give up and keep a positive attitude you are bound to start getting wins. Sometimes sweepers go through slumps where they have not had any wins in weeks or months and then, just like the flick of a switch, they start winning and that is because they did not give up.
How to spot the scams:
- You are asked to give your credit card information. Never ever do this! You should never have to pay anything unless the contest specifically states that you are responsible for the shipping costs.
- You get an email stating that you have won a contest you don’t remember entering.
- You have received an email or letter stating that you have won something and it has a lot of typos.
- Safety is always priority number one and if something does not feel right, investigate it. Create a post on social media asking other sweepers their opinion on it. Try to contact the company or sponsor to clarify any doubt you may have.
I would love to hear if you have won something through entering sweepstakes or if you have a tip that has not been covered here. Feel free to leave a comment below and Happy Sweeping!

I don’t enter a lot of online sweepstakes. I just enter with my cell phone’s daily giveaways for little items like drinks or food.
This is so informative!!! I never thought to make a separate email address. Thats one of the reasons that I never play… But if you dont play, then you cant win!!! Great post idea!!!
Thanks Marisa. Good luck sweeping!
I never enter giveaways because I never seem to win whenever I do! Thanks for the tips, feeling confident that I can win the next one!
Thank you , these are some great tips for entering giveaways. I wish I had opened a separate e-mail for just contests.
It’s definitely helpful. Good luck sweeping.
Very informative! Thank you! 😁
Great post. I enter sweeps a lot.
I need to set up a separate email. which ones are you using? that’s a great idea!
Hi Betty. I use a yahoo.com address for my sweepstakes entries. It makes life a whole lot easier to have them separate from my regular email account.
I’ve been looking for some Facebook groups so thanks for sharing!
